Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is unique in England for the breadth of its services and is one of the country’s larger trusts. We provide community, mental health and learning disability services throughout the county and into Dorset, along with acute services from our Yeovil District Hospital and Musgrove Park Hospital sites as well as one-quarter of Somerset’s GP practices through our subsidiary Symphony Healthcare Services. This provides us with a wonderful opportunity to continue to develop new integrated patient centred models of care. We are totally focussed on the needs of our patients, supporting our colleagues and working with our partners; we were HSJ Mental Health Trust of the Year for 2021/22 and our staff survey results, released in March, have been overwhelmingly positive.

The ideal candidates will bring us different insights, perspectives and challenges as we serve our local population and support our colleagues. We welcome applications from candidates with a broad range of senior level experience which could have been gained in the commercial, public or not for profit sectors. While we are particularly keen to bring in both colleagues with clinical and operational leadership experience, more important to us than your specific professional background is the way in which you use that experience; we want Board colleagues who can support when necessary, challenge constructively and help us to make better decisions because of the rich diversity of thought around the Board table.
