Never has the appetite for collaboration and innovation been higher amongst Health and Care partners in mid and south Essex.
Over the past three years we have built a solid foundation of joint working and we have started to transform the way we support our residents and deliver care. We have recently achieved three key milestones that will further accelerate our transformation in the coming months.
Firstly, the three acute hospitals in our patch merged in April 2020, creating a single organisation providing acute hospital services. This will streamline functions and decision-making across the hospital group and release significant efficiencies that will be reinvested in our new operational model.
Secondly, the five Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) have agreed to progress towards making an application to merge as soon as possible – having already committed to a single executive team. This will significantly streamline decision-making for the system, and enable the creation of a single strategic commissioning function.
Thirdly, we are working on developing four Integrated Care Partnerships across the footprint, linking Local Authority, NHS, community and voluntary sector partners to support residents at the local level and develop our 28 primary care networks.
In advance of the CCGs merging, we have agreed to appoint a single Accountable Officer across the five. Alongside this, our system partners and Chairs have also agreed the need to develop an executive function at the Integrated Care System level, which will be led by the new Accountable Officer.
This is a career-defining role: a role that will set a new cultural context for our system and undoubtedly transform the lives of our population.
In order to create a fully fledged, thriving Integrated Care System and a strong place-based approach to delivery and local commissioning, we need a talented senior leader who has a background in leading change across organisational boundaries. You will be adept at aligning cultures and have a track record of building strong partnerships and delivering results. You will be deeply committed to the integration agenda and have a natural ability to engage with our partners, residents, communities and staff to create a real sense of shared purpose towards improving the health and wellbeing of our population.
