We are seeking a highly experienced Advanced Practitioner with expert knowledge and skills in the field of Endoscopy Services to perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures, demonstrate advanced levels of clinical judgment and discretion.
The Endoscopy Nurse Consultant will lead and develop a growing team of Nurse Endoscopists and trainees within our Surgical Division here at SASH and lead initiatives to continuously improve quality and clinical care standards.
As a capable and independent Advanced Practitioner, you will undertake holistic assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care in accordance with the British Society of Gastroenterology and Joint Advisory Group standards.
As a proactive collaborator, you will be passionate about ensuring patient needs are met and improving patient centred care and overall experience by working with other professionals and agencies, especially in relation to ongoing care needs and discharge arrangements, liaising with a wide remit of agencies/multi-disciplinary teams, both hospital-based and community.
Accountable to the Divisional Chief Nurse, the post holder will be responsible for the management of a patient caseload within Endoscopy. Identifying the patient’s health education needs, actively monitor the safe prescribing and administration of drugs in accordance with current NMC guidelines and Trust Policies, and collaboratively implement specialised programmes of health promotion according to the diagnosis.
You will be responsible for the safe use of highly complex equipment and contribute to business cases, capital bids and specialist advice for the development & maintenance of nurse-led gastrointestinal endoscopy.
As a motivated and innovative leader, you will develop and implement a strategy of provision, education and training for medical staff across the department, implementing clinical teaching and education to other colleagues in order to enhance clinical practice and improve patient care.
The Endoscopy Nurse Consultant will be responsible for receiving and disseminating highly complex information, to all grades of staff, relating to access, performance and patient care management and must demonstrate excellent levels of verbal and non-verbal communication skills, utilising sensitive communication styles to provide reassurance, counselling, education and support.
