We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and engaging leader to fulfil the senior executive role of Deputy Managing Director and Head of Clinical Governance, Quality and Service Improvement. As a key member of the Berkshire and Surrey Pathology Services (BSPS) senior executive team, you’ll have strong leadership skills and the ability to work at Board level. You will deputise for the BSPS Managing Director and lead the strategic direction for clinical governance, quality and service improvement in our pathology network in collaboration with executive colleagues, clinical leads and general managers.
As a successful candidate you will be experienced in leading a quality agenda in a complex network environment, will have significant senior operational experience and will be able to provide strong professional leadership for the non-medical staff within BSPS. You will be able to demonstrate an innovative approach and clear focus on promoting service improvement while embedding a supportive, high performance culture.

BSPS is a joint venture between five NHS Trusts – Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals, Frimley Health, Royal Surrey and Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trusts, and Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. Our network has a clear vision to be clinically led and patient centred, providing a highly motivating environment for our people and enabling them to create an outstanding Pathology Network, delivering the very best outcome for our patients. The complete service model is based on a multi-site strategy, which delivers both routine and specialist in-house testing whilst providing timely results to patients.
BSPS has a number of national specialist services, notably the South of England Bowel Cancer Screening Service and HPV Screening Programme for the South and South-East regions of England. We are committed to full UKAS accreditation, MHRA compliance and HTA licensing.
The post holder will be based at Frimley Park Hospital (part of Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust) and will be required to travel to other Partnership Trusts to fulfil the duties of the post.
The post is for 37.5 hours per week. The post holder will be required to join the Executive out of hours rota for the network.
