Job Summary

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and engaging leader to fulfil the senior executive role of Deputy Managing Director and Head of Clinical Governance, Quality and Service Improvement.  As a key member of the Berkshire and Surrey Pathology Services (BSPS) senior executive team, you’ll have strong leadership skills and the ability to work at Board level. You will deputise for the BSPS Managing Director and lead the strategic direction for clinical governance, quality and service improvement in our pathology network in collaboration with executive colleagues, clinical leads and general managers.

As a successful candidate you will be experienced in leading a quality agenda in a complex network environment, will have significant senior operational experience and will be able to provide strong professional leadership for the non-medical staff within BSPS. You will be able to demonstrate an innovative approach and clear focus on promoting service improvement while embedding a supportive, high performance culture.

 

Main duties of the job

  • Deputy to the Managing Director of BSPS
  • To support in ensuring that systems are in place to deliver the Collaboration Agreement and governance framework of BSPS
  • To work with member Chief Executives, Executive Directors , other key partners and stakeholders to deliver vision, values, aims and strategic development objectives through effective dialogue with staff, partners in the local health economy and appropriate external organisations
  • To support in the establishment of operational performance plans, ensuring all BSPS employees have opportunities to contribute to the planning, implementation and successful delivery of those plans
  • To provide advice to the Board on service, financial, staff and organisational changes which are necessary for BSPS to respond to the changing needs of the health community and meet national priorities and targets
  • Director level line management of several services within BSPS
  • Ensure we meet all quality requirements and provide metrics to support evidence of compliance with the required standards for clinical governance, risks, health and safety, training, clinical governance
  • Ensure all five Trusts  have the required support and governance from Pathology to discharge their responsibilities for clinical governance, risk, health and safety and R&D within their Trust
  • Provide reports at Executive and Board meetings to give assurance on compliance and performance on the areas of your responsibility
  • Oversee delivery of the BSPS communication strategy

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will be based at Frimley Park Hospital (part of Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust) and will be required to travel to other Partnership Trusts to fulfil the duties of the post.

The post is for 37.5 hours per week. The post holder will be required to join the Executive out of hours rota for the network.
