The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a hugely successful organisation, with highly skilled staff who are dedicated to providing the best possible care for the people of the North East and beyond. As one of the largest and highest performing NHS Foundation Trusts in the country, we are continuously seeking to improve our services and are proud to have been twice rated as ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission.
We have over 2 million patient contacts each year in our main hospitals, the Royal Victoria Infirmary and the Freeman Hospital, at our other sites including our cancer centre in North Cumbria, and of course across our communities. We are one of the biggest providers of specialist care in the UK and serve people from across the whole of the North East and beyond.
We are known for our high quality medical research regionally, nationally and internationally and we want to remain at the cutting edge of innovation. In 2020 we were awarded Academic Health Science Centre status with our local partners – a prestigious award recognising our research excellence – and we have huge ambitions to become even more successful. We continue to attract major awards and commercial opportunities to the North East.
We are an active member of the Shelford Group of specialist teaching hospitals and play a leading role in national work to improve quality through closer collaboration locally and regionally to deliver health and social care. Through ‘Collaborative Newcastle’, our award winning approach to supporting our communities, we have committed to working differently so that we can improve the health, wealth and wellbeing of everyone in our city.
This is a great time to join Newcastle Hospitals as our new Chief Finance Officer. Working closely with our CEO, Dame Jackie Daniel, and leading a highly committed team, you will play a pivotal role in continuing to drive the organisation forward. You will take responsibility for one of the biggest budgets in the NHS and ensure that we use our robust financial position creatively in the future. Given the changing health and care landscape, you will proactively look to the external environment to ensure that the significant opportunities lying at the heart of partnership working, including those of a commercial nature, are fully realised.
We are committed to promoting equality and diversity and recognise the benefit in providing an inclusive environment. We value and respect the diversity of our employees and aim to recruit a workforce which reflects the communities we serve, and is equipped to deliver the best service to our patients. We welcome all applications irrespective of people’s race, disability, gender, sexual orientation, religion or belief, age, gender identity, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity and in particular those from under-represented groups.
If you share our passion and drive for excellence and have the experience we seek, please contact Matt Simpson at Hunter Healthcare: msimpson@hunter-healthcare.com or on 020 7935 4570.
